Final Sprint | Monster Lady Project | Animator's Update

What I did this Sprint:

  • Did final adjustments to the animation file
  • Played around with the lighting and assisted Willow wherever needed
  • Worked on camera cuts and renders for the final cut
  • Created the presentation and prepped for everyone to fill out their sections of the presentation
Final Animation:

Sprint 5 Animator's Update

 Animation

In this sprint i got the bulk of the major animation work for this project done and timed out so that Bryce can do timing work with the VFX part of the project and so that Willow can get some feather simulation caching into the engine and bring things together more. I created sequencers for each animation test for VFX and for the geo cache work. I kept into contact and provided whatever files needed for each of them and kept them in the loop on the stage of the project.

Team Scheduling

I scheduled the project out so that the different members of the team always had something to work on and prepped each member's tasks so that others could continue on something while waiting on their needs in one area to work.

Rendering

I rendered out and created a lot of the presentation material for the project so that the character had as much showcased for each aspect of the project as possible. And then I created the template presentation for the team to fill out their corresponding sections for the project presentation.

Also I helped Paige set up and get their motion capture camerawork in their project so i helped them with that too :)

Sprint 4 Animation Restart and progress

So after trial and error for a few sprints, it finally got determined that it was best for the project for us to scope down the animation for this project so I created 2 new animations for it:

1. a flight cycle showing the monster lady in motion

2. a landing sequence in the environment for when we utilize the vfx

Then I created the ppt for my team to fill out

Sprint 3 Animation Pass 1

So for the majority of the two weeks, we focused on troubleshooting some rig stuff that have been integrating funny with the animation. We tried to attack it with motion paths, lattices, and other options but in the end we still have some weird stuff going on with it and we'll likely make some adjustments to the animation so that it fits better with the rig file.

Eventually, I ended up animating the file as is as best as I could with the animation in mind using the IK.

Then I went on to set up the powerpoint to be filled out by my teammates for their sections.

Common Art Project | Sprint 2

Project Contribution Update:

I met with Cal and did rig adjustment meetings and made sure that rigs and animation files were going to be able to work well together. We had some issues with the IK and the wings that got resolved.

I created an animation file structure now that I had a rig file to work with so the animation files can get rig updates on the regular.

I completed the animation blockout for the project.

I created and formatted the presentation to be ready for my team members to add in their content into the presentation

I imported my animation into engine and created an in-engine presentable render of the animation for the presentation.

Common Art Summer Project - Code Name: Monster Lady

I got together with the team and we set up our project directory

I, along with the other members of the team, worked on a Pintrest board and did research as to the kind of character that we wanted to design and found references for the type of creature we'd want to work on.

We met and broke down the project into the specifics of what we want for the final design, bringing together multiple concept artworks into one design.

I then figured out the motion path of the character for their showcase demo and created an animatic based on this motion path.

Then, after getting my hands dirty working on it, I did some research and broke down the character into needing 3 different kinds of references: Birds, Chinese Dragons, Mermaids.

I sat down with the other members of the team and fleshed out the team's Sprint Schedule

I compiled everyone's Pur Ref boards and exported them onto the powerpoint and compiled it into a master Pur Ref board.

I formatted and created the powerpoint for the presentation and formatted it for presentability.

I took our deliverables schedule and broke it down into a presentable format for the presentation.
